LED Node
Client: Mid-Ocean Studio
Materials: Polycarbonate w/ UV stabilizer, brass and steel hardware
Mid-Ocean Studio, a Rhode Island sculptor, required a low-cost, modular, weather-resistant spherical lens interface between his custom metal structural system and a circuit board containing 4 interactive color LEDs and a wireless radio receiver. The interface had to be strong enough to resist the physical forces of assembling, transporting and erecting the large-scale sculptures and also to transmit the current from the electrified metal of the sculpture through the enclosed circuit board.
